At Altratech, we use fringe-field capacitive sensing in our technology; the same principle used in every smartphone, where electrodes beneath the glass screen detect your finger above the glass.
Our patented sensing electrodes are in the top metal layer of a standard foundry digital CMOS chip, shielded beneath a tough protective layer, that is detecting beads or analytes deposited above it on the chip surface.
These beads or analytes can be magnetic, non-magnetic, gold, or silver nanoparticles, deposited by pipette, lab-instrument, or in a microfluidic. The sensor is versatile, robust, and being standard CMOS, is rapidly scalable to high volumes and low cost.
