Bill Henebry, Chairman
Bill has held many top management roles in multi-nationals, e.g. MD Kostal Ireland, and European Director of Wang Laboratories. He is a former member of the Governing Body of the University of Limerick. Over the last decade he has switched focus to directing and nurturing several successful startups, e.g. as Chairman Pulse Learning, Stokes Bio, ChipSensors, providing leadership, strategic direction, & corporate governance support.
Niall established Kernel Capital in 1999, an early-stage venture fund with offices in Cork, Belfast, and Dublin. Under his direction the firm has delivered Funds with and average IRR of 20%+ per annum. He holds a wide range of fund portfolio directorships, including AltraTech. He sits on a number of industry and university advisory boards, is a director of the Irish Venture Capital Association, and is a mentor on the Kauffman Fellows Program.
Cyril is CEO of Infinity Capital, a private VC firm specialising in technology & software investments globally, including in over 20 Irish high-growth startups. Previously he co-founded and led secure payments business Trintech to IPO on the German Neuer Markt and US Nasdaq (Sym: TTPA). A 1999 EY Technology Entrepeneur of the Year, Cyril is a member of the Irish Software CEO forum, & the Irish Government Trade Advisory Forum.
Tara Dalton, Ph.D, CEO
Tara holds eight US patents in microfluidic droplet processing, for DNA/genome extraction and analysis. Her most recent peer-reviewed publications focus on RNA gene expression profiling of colorectal cancers at University Hospital Limerick. In 2007 she founded and spun-out Stokes-Bio from University of Limerick, focusing on high-throughput sample extraction and PCR analysis. Stokes-Bio was acquired by Life Technologies Inc in 2010.
Tim Cummins, CTO & Co-Founder
Tim has 25 years’ experience in semiconductors and sensors, in design, business development, sales, and senior management. Previously he was Sensors Product Line Director in Silicon Laboratories Inc, following its acquisition of his startup environmental sensor company ChipSensors. He has 5 IEEE publications, and holds 18 US & EU patents, all successfully commercialised.
Brian O’Farrell, Ph.D, CSO & Co-Founder
Brian has 15 years’ experience in molecular biology, population genetics, and lab-on-chip biotechnology. In AltraTech he has invented a novel enzyme-free genotyping platform. Previously, in ERI he designed, built, and commissioned a robotic pipeline for high-volume microbial genotyping of Salmonella and E.Coli bacterial strains. Proficient in Python and SQL, he has 6 publications on sample-preparation and bioinformatics.
